Occupy Living Room Couch

Learning from the amateur mistakes of occupy-protestor-predecessors, this young protestor made sure to clearly and loudly delineate his demands: warm milk. a chest rub (with lots of swirls, hearts, stars). an original song (about him) sung softly. a fancy-ass white noise machine to fill the air with sounds of the ocean, his ancestral home. And most importantly, the ultimate goal of his protest, a long-ass nap on the living room couch. Amen brother. Yell and you shall be heard.

This pic melts my heart. A big baby boy in footie jammies gets me every time.

But question: what are the lyrics to this song about him? It makes one wonder.

I make up songs about O and always wonder what weird songs other parents come up with.

Many songs are about Grayson and his doggie Lula. Often set to "you are my sunshine" or other childrens' favorites. You are my SONshine, my only SONshine, you make me ha-ppy when skies are gray(son).

On a related note, my favorite kids CDs, and therefore the ones Grayson has to listen to me cover, are by Natalie Merchant (Leave your sleep) and by Kimya Dawson (Alphabutt). Songs on the former are beautiful and haunting while on the latter are somewhat dumb, often gross, and funny.

One of Grayson's favorites from natalie merchant:
..."My age is three hundred and seventy-two,
And I think, with the deepest regret,
How I used to pick up and voraciously chew
The dear little boys whom I met.
I’ve eaten them raw, in their holiday suits;
I’ve eaten them curried with rice;
I’ve eaten them baked, in their jackets and boots,
And found them exceedingly nice.
But now that my jaws are too weak for such fare,
I think it exceedingly rude
To do such a thing, when I’m quite well aware
Little boys do not like being chewed...."

I love this occupy concept - and that little boy on the couch is precious!
Your song choices remind me that my intern (who we fondly call Intern) brought in a copy of Adam Mansbach's "Go the F**k to Sleep". In looking it up just now to find the author's name, I saw several readings of it on You Tube including a parody of a Christopher Walken reading - quite fun.

ooooh, I will definitely look up the Walken parody of go the f**k to sleep!

When Oz is getting a diaper change I sing:

Ozzy's got a monkey booty
a little monkey booty
he took a monkey doodie
a funky monkey poopy

(this cracks him up every time)

also:

I love Osric all day long
I love Osric because he's strong

I love Osric in my heart
I love Osric because he's smart

I love Osric because he's cute
even when he's wearing his birthday suit

I love Osric 'cause he brings me joy

I love Ozzy he's my little boy

sappy, I know

I dig the sappy song.
Funny, monkeys are a recurring theme in most of Grayson's songs as well.
