Take II

What the hell is this? No, doesn't smell like onion, and i am at a complete and total loss. The Internets needs to have image-recognition capabilities, I tell ya.
Seriously, anyone? So the deal is, we belong to a local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), and as such we get weekly shares of random in-season veggies from a nearby farm. very cool. Red box, picked up each thursday just a couple blocks away, crusier-bike distance. Anyway. Last week i made my first beet-salad. This week, apparently, i'll be making another, and maybe a white radish or white beet something too. But what the hell am i to do with this? Naturally I immediately thought this highly seasoned and witty group of culinarily-inclined relatives (god i am so proud) could help a sister out.

I have long wanted an image recognition website. In the meantime, a collective group of village idiots shall have to suffice. This puts me in the mind of the time that a snake crawled up through the drain in ribhard's shower. But, then again, I am vegetably-illiterate or dyslegumexic - as it might appear on Polvo'D's word list.

Is it some kind of baby leek? Cut it down the middle, what does the inside look like?

P.S. I freakin' love roasted beets, if you eat enough your pee will turn magenta . . . now you know.

i will cut it down the middle. I took a bite, tastes like strong garlic. I don't think i'll try to smoke it - i'm currently on the job market and would hate to fail a drug test.

roasted beets?? really?

I think you need to let it dry for a few weeks.......then cure in the shade...and then course grind it and remove the stems and seeds before you try to smoke it..I am just guessing.........probably use a light paper or small pipe .....
