beet or radish? radish or beet?

is there even any difference between the two? and if there is, what the hell are these, and what am i to do with them? And if red beets turn your urine magenta, as valencia informed us, what do you think these will do?

or maybe they are turnips? why oh why so many names for simple white root veggies?

that's why I steer clear of veggies... i.e. too complicated and I not a fan of red urine ...

in case you were wondering

However, I will say that eating too much cereal with food coloring turns my poop green, but don't mistake that for a vegetable just because it's green and smells bad

again, in case you were wondering, or were going to ask....

actually looks like eggs that have partially evolved into plants?

I vote radish. Turnips usually have purple on them. Then again those are solid white so the whole judging veggies by their color concept goes out the window.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe beets have to be roasted whereas radishes are eaten raw.

P.S. aren't root veggies usually harvested in the fall?

raw radish? Okay, I will go with that and try them in a salad, or in my cereal. Veggies, polvito, are good for you. Also, yes, i know, it seems like all these roots, including rhubarb (which i gave up on and tossed), shouldnt be part of the spring crop.

well they look good to me..and just for the record regular beets turn everything (liquid or solid) that comes out of your body reddish...in about 20 minutes...i love them roasted in tin foil with a little olive oil and garlic salt powder...400 degrees for 1/2 hour....quartered and yummy. PS I have found that very few allens actually eat veggies...abbzug apparently is a rare exception.

if you want some really good root veggies..go for rutabaga..I had some today...boil for a 1/2 hour...put some I cant believe its not butter salt and pepper and eat large!

ps those things look like albino beets to me or some really white turnips.

apparently valencia eats veggies too. or at least beets. she seems to know her root veggies. This week I got fennel, chard and collard greens. This creative cooking with root and strange veggies is wearing on me especially when there is a green house down the street calling me to come scrape and paint walls.

I am sure your dad will want lots of veggies while he is out there....try to fix at least 3 different ones each night for him.

and if you can fix some boiled peanuts..he would really like that.
